First, Chris is very helpful in getting the rental van ready and answering all the questions we had before takeoff! My husband and I were in Iceland 6 days in August, we rented a 2 person Dacia. We did not need the heater because our sleeping bags kept us perfectly warm, even on cold rainy nights. I would recommend a cooler for milk, meats, etc. We are not big campers to begin with, but the campervan was exceptional and gave us more privacy than we anticipated. We were able to go anywhere and everwhere (except for F roads), and after our trip, felt like we had seen places in Iceland that many other tourists are not likely too. Highly recommend this company!!

Perfect. Perfect. We, 3 persons, hired the Renault Master van, which can easily fit 5 people.
Really loved to sit together at the front of the van with the three of us. Everything we needed was available in the van.
Also liked the inspiring web-site and the prompt response on questions, mails etc.
For me Kúkú = relax, fun, enjoying Iceland.

Rented a Kuku Camper to drive up to northern Iceland in the summer and they were cheaper than competitors we researched, and had just what we needed in a campervan! It was very comfortable to drive/ride in AND sleep in. The team was very responsive to emails through the work day, which was helpful as my flight had many delays. The camper came with the essentials we needed and we could rent any additional items. The only thing I think that could be better is aligning the van shelves so that you can see out the back window—but that’s just for aesthetics/personal preference :)

WE LOVED OUR KUKUCAMPER !!!! we got the big guy. Category CA- only because we brought our 10 mos old baby with us .. it was just the three of us (but the van could easily sleep 5 people)- and she loved being in the carseat up front with us for the 12day ring road trip we did. The country recommends NOT bringing a carseat bc they're not regulated the same - thats a bunch of BS- we rented one through kukucamper but ours at home was the same or better- also when you take the FLY bus from keflavik to Reykjavik it was a scramble for flybus to get a carseat... I feel like i would have just brought our own (no one wouldve cared what carseat we had)... back to the camper deets- The windows were huge and wide and there were lots of them so we could see everything from every angle. The category CA van was amazing because you could stand up in it -- which isnt the case for most other campervans- but this guy is huge!

Excellent service. The people at Kuku were helpful and correct, and provided us with plenty of information. The car was of very good quality. It is inevitable that you will have get scratches or sticky ash/lava stains on your car, but the people at Kuku are aware of this and will be pretty reasonable about it. The sleeping bag is excellent and pretty warm, the mattress is quite thin though. Buying extra gas canisters is usually not necessary, since most camping places have indoor cooking facilities. Also, a lot of stuff like oil, pepper/salt, herbs and sauces are left behind by other tourists at Kuku's headquarters. Don't be afraid to stock up on them. Of course, be nice afterwards and deposit some of these yourself at the end of your holiday. Finally, if this is your first time in Iceland or you have less than two weeks time, a 2WD will be fine. Otherwise, consider renting a 4WD. A lot of the most beautiful spots and even regions in Iceland at simply not accessible by 2WD
